Hello! Thanks for stopping by this site. This website is dedicated to those of us who are ham radio operators and regularly talk on 146.520 Mhz in and around the Silicon Valley in California. There's a fairly large group of us that talk on, "520" and keep it active. We recognize the fact that 146.520 Mhz is the, "National Simplex Calling Frequency" according to the ARRL bandplan. However, this area is one of the few areas in the country where you can actually find somebody on, "520" if you throw out a call. Based on feedback we've recieved and discussions we've had, most hams think it's a good thing that we keep it active. There's almost always someone listening to the frequency and we're usually very willing to give signal reports, help travelers with directions, or have a friendly QSO. Simplex can be a lot of fun, and if you haven't done much of it, give it a try! 73 Curtis, N6UMQ QST....QST...!!! Last Updated 07/18/2008
One
- The "520 Breakfast" for July 19, 2008 has been cancelled.
Two - The Echolink station has been down for a week or more. It will continue to be down until further notice. I do plan to have it back on the air fairly soon. Three - Gas prices!!! No doubt about it, they're higher than they've ever been and we're paying for it. If you don't already know how much of that gas price is tax, you should. Have a look (Note: This opens an external website in a new window. It will take you to http://www.api.org/policy/tax/stateexcise/index.cfm.) ![]() ![]() |
